The Colchester United boss saw his side book their place in the third round of the LDV Vans Trophy with a 3-2 extra-time victory over Northampton Town last night.

The U's were indebted to an extra-time winner from Neil Danns after coming from behind to win the tie. Parkinson said: "It doesn't matter what competition it is, I just like winning games.

"To make it five victories in a row is a fantastic achievement.

"We're really seeing the benefit of having a strong squad which has the potential to score goals."

Parkinson's point was underlined last night when he made eight changes to the team that beat Blackpool 3-2 at Layer Road last weekend.

But they still proved dangerous enough with two of the change players, George Elokobi and Richard Garcia, finding the net.

Parkinson said: "I made the changes and for the first 20 minutes we did look a bit rusty.
