London APSA 0, Tilbury 1
AFTER the disappointment of their 2-1 Essex Senior League defeat at Southend Manor on Saturday, Tilbury bounced back with a 1-0 Thames-side Trophy win against London APSA at Aveley on Tuesday night to restore confidence for Saturday's trip to Newmarket in the FA Vase.
It was the fourth meeting between the sides this season, with Tilbury having won the previous three. They won 8-1 and 5-0 at home, though they only managed a 2-1 win when tackling APSA at Aveley in the League Cup.
Though APSA have shown much improvement of late, Tilbury always looked the dominant side and could have taken the lead on 26 minutes when they were awarded a penalty after Dave Webster was fouled.
Danny McGoldrick converted the first spot-kick but a retake was ordered because of encroachment and keeper Adam Rafis stopped the second effort.
The deciding goal came on 41 minutes when Rafis could only parry a McGoldrick shot and Tom Dossser pounced to net the rebound and set up a trip to Barkingside in the next round.
