Colchester United put out the lights on Blackpool and in the process ended their 22-year voodoo at Bloomfield Road.

But it was edge of the seat stuff for the hardy 150-plus U's supporters that made the long trip north, as they needed a last-gasp winner to seal three richly-deserved points.

Colchester appeared to be cruising to victory - thanks to a piece of great vision from Greg Halford on 16 minutes. And as they ended stoppage time the home side had still failed to muster a shot on target.

But after Tommy Wright found space in the U's box to toe poke home an unlikely equaliser, it was play-anywhere Halford that kept his composure to ensure it was a good day at the seaside for Phil Parkinson's men.
