Colchester United boss Phil Parkinson has admitted being delighted after his side were given a bye for the first round of the LDV Vans Trophy.
The news has come as a blessing as the clash would have fallen just prior to a tough trip to Tranmere Rovers in late October.
Parkinson has already questioned the number of games his small squad have to deal with - a problem a number of managers are troubled with, according to the U's boss.
But this will be one less to worry about as the club misses out on the draw which will take place on Saturday morning.
Parkinson said: "It's a fixture that we will avoid in what is already a busy schedule.
"By that time, we should have the likes of Richard Garcia, Neil Danns, Marino Keith, Karl Duguid and Liam Chilvers back in the squad."
