A family who recruited a TV Supernanny to help tame their five children say they ended up naughtier.

Susan and Paul Young called the TV show Supernanny in March wanting help with their five sons.

The show sends in nanny Jo Frost to help the parents improve children's behaviour. But Susan, 38, who lives in Witham, said that despite their admiration of Jo, the show had not been a success.

After watching the show which was aired on TV last night, she said: "They left us with children that were more naughty than when they arrived."

Paul, 40, added: "At the end of the day, they have got to portray a TV programme that looks good. They don't hang around for weeks after."

Viewers saw Paul and Susan with Nathaniel, nine, Caleb, eight, Benjamin, six, Jacob, four, and Joel, one, at home, at church and in the supermarket. The Youngs do not deny their children played up - but said the presence of a camera crew made it ten times worse.

Scenes showing the success of techniques were also not truly representative, the couple claimed. In one scene, the boys are shown helping to clear up the garden.

Susan said: "They have always been happy to do the garden. The issue is when we get them to do something they don't want to do."
