CELEBRITY Love Island star Fran Cosgrave dug deep into his pockets and handed £1,400 to the Echo campaign to give young Vickie Bristow the chance to walk.

His generosity left diners at the Joy King chinese restaurant in Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff, astounded last night. Vicky, 14, of Pinmill, Laindon, suffers from cerebral palsy and has never been able to walk. We are campaigning to raise £8,000 to buy her the treatment she needs to get rid of her wheelchair for good.

Over two nights of fundraising, Joy King owners had hoped to raise £1,500 by donating their profits and running auctions and traditional dragon dances. They have already exceeded all expectations with their star guest Cosgrave, owner of a London club.

He said: "Vickie is a lovely girl. We had a chat for a while and she's brilliant. I just hope this helps her to walk. It's a pleasure to be able to lend a hand, but if they raise all the money it will be her and her family who should feel proud."
