Investigators probing the cause of a Colchester fire have drawn a blank.

The blaze was started in the garden of a home in Monkwick Avenue last week.

It nearly spread to the house and a dog was trapped inside before the alarm was raised and the town's firefighters put it out.

Station commander Andy Butcher said: "The investigation has been inconclusive. The most probable cause would indicate debris was ignited by someone." CID are still investigating.
