Richard Naylor today added his name to the list of admirers currently hailing Ipswich Town team-mate Owen Garvan.

The 17-year-old gave his growing reputation another huge boost last night with a brilliant goal in the Blues' 2-2 draw at home to Southampton - a match delayed by 40 minutes because of a floodlight failure.

When the ball fell to him just inside the area, Garvan chested it down and lashed a stunning left-footed volley beyond Saints keeper Antti Niemi.

It was his first senior goal for Ipswich, having starred for the club's young guns last season as they won the FA Youth Cup.

And Naylor - who scored Town's first goal with a header - said: "Owen did very well and he's a very promising young player.

"I was really pleased for him to get off the mark and it was a brilliant goal."
