BILLERICAY Town boss Justin Edinburgh could offer no excuses as his side suffered an embarrassing FA Cup exit at the hands of St Margaretsbury last night.

Town raced into a two goal lead but were eventually beaten 3-2 in extra time at New Lodge by the Spartan South Midlands League outfit, who also had striker Matt Maskell sent off 10 minutes from the end.

"We had a great run last year when we reached the first round proper and we win and lose together at this football club," said Edinburgh.

"The performance wasn't good enough but it's hard to analyse why immediately after the game.

"Maybe we relaxed too much when we were 2-0 up and we ended up letting in three very poor goals.

"That's six we've conceded in our last two home games now and a stat like that was unheard of with us last season.

"We need to get back to defending like that and it will be a real test of character."
