Inconsistency might have cost Westcliff their Premier place, but skipper Jon Pratt believes they can bounce straight back next season.
Westcliff were relegated long before their final game of the season, but they made a decent fist of their last appearance in the top flight before losing to a Hainault and Clayhall side who clinched runners-up spot behind Saffron Walden, who won their third successive title.
Pratt made 66 himself and got solid backing from Tim Wade (28) and Nick Giles (26) as his side made 198 all out.
Matt Baker, Wade and Aussie Tim Cameron took two wickets apiece in the Hainault reply, but they eventually won with 202-6 with J French top-scoring on 75.
The visitors collected 20 points to finish second and Pratt admitted: "It might have been a different story if we'd held on to a vital catch when they were still 30 runs short."
