DESPITE being held by a Spartan South Midlands League side who play at a level two steps below their Ryman Premier status, Billericay Town will be confident of winning through to the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.

This tie, on a narrow pitch with long grass, was never conducive to Billericay's passing game, but they did receive a pre-match boost in being able to field first choice goalkeeper Mel Capoleton, despite him being sent off in Tuesday's League defeat at home to Maldon.

That was due to news of Capleton's one-match suspension not yet having come through. It is now unclear as to whether he will miss tomorrow night's replay (7.45pm) or next Saturday's home league game with Walton and Hersham.

The hosts, based at Stansted St Margarets, near Ware in Hertfordshire, were well pleased with a sharing of a spoils that keeps an unbeaten run of 25 games going - particularly as they had to play for three-quarters of the match with 10 men.

The winners of Tuesday's replay at New Lodge will entertain Ryman Premier side Folkestone Invicta in the second qualifying round.
