A mother has compiled a petition with 30 names to get speed humps installed in her road before a child is seriously injured.

Tracy Adams, 39, says urgent action needs to be taken to slow down motorists and improve the safety of Deanery Gardens and Churchill Road.

A petition was collected two years ago by her neighbour but no action was taken. Now the mother-of-two from Deanery Gardens is determined to see something done to boost road safety.

She said: "The cars are horrendous. Something needs to be done. It's an accident waiting to happen.

"I want to take this as far as I can. One little boy nearly got knocked down by a bus. It's getting ridiculous."

An Essex County Council spokesman said: "There are no plans to put speed humps in Deanery Gardens or Churchill Road at the moment.

"We would urge anyone with concerns to write to us and they will be considered."
