The weather didn't dampen the spirits of those who took part in a special video shoot to help promote Colchester's first Youth Awards.

Is this the way to town's youth awards - Mayor of Colchester Terry Sutton leads a group of young people from Colchester Castle for the video shoot. Picture: STEVE BRADING (45058-a)

The shoot took place yesterday at 8am at Colchester Castle and due to the rain, the number of people who turned up for the video was down on what organisers had hoped. The idea of the video is to show just what is on offer to young people in Colchester.

Fortunately, the weather didn't hamper the recording itself with the final cut of video lined up to be shown at the awards bash, taking place at the Moot Hall, Colchester Town Hall, on November 11.

At the awards there will be trophies up for grabs in 11 different categories, including educational achievement, outstanding contribution to the arts and sports development.

Individuals aged 11 to 25 can be nominated by others or can nominate themselves and young people will also be involved in the judging.

For a nomination form, please write to Colchester Youth Awards, PO Box 5215, Town Hall, Colchester CO1 1GG, call Colchester Borough Council on 01206 282101 or Essex Youth Service on 01206 573174.
