Back-to-school day meant something special for 1,000 Essex pupils today - they had a brand new school.
Nearly 1,000 pupils arrived at James Hornsby High School, Laindon, near Basildon, in their smart royal blue and gold uniforms.
The High Road school is on the old Laindon school site and takes pupils from there and the Nicholas school.
New headteacher, Jacqui White, was appointed last summer and has been taking special assemblies at both the old schools.
The students will eventually be accommodated at the Nicholas School site in St Nicholas Lane, once a £3 million redevelopment is completed by 2000.
