The twisted wreckage of the jet aircraft which crashed off the coast of Bradwell-on-Sea has been recovered.
A team of experts from the Air Accident Investigation Bureau sent out a barge with a crane to the wreckage a mile-and-a-half from the Bradwell coast before taking it to Brightlingsea Harbour at around 9pm on Wednesday.
The Jet Provost plane, which crashed on Christmas Eve killing the pilot Nigel Paterson, was then left to dry before being taken to the Air Accident Investigation headquarters in Farnborough, Hampshire.
Experts will now begin the task of examining the fuselage to try and establish the cause of the tragedy.
A post mortem examination revealed Mr Paterson, 40, died from drowning. An inquest will be held at a later date.
