Police have appealed for help to track down a robber who attacked a shopworker outside a Clacton bank.

The 20-year-old was carrying around £500 in cash and cheques which he was going to pay into the NatWest Bank in Station Road.

He was approached from behind, punched in the face and the bag was snatched from his grasp. The robber made off in the direction of Pallister Road.

Det Sgt Tony Adams said: "It was a nasty incident and the victim was left very shaken."

The incident took place at around 2.45pm on Monday.

Det Sgt Adams said he believed the attacker was probably hanging around in the area of Pier Avenue for some time before he carried out the raid.

The man was aged about 20, 6ft tall with short blond hair in a skinhead-type cut. He wore a red sweatshirt and blue jogging bottoms.
