The mother and daughter who died in a tragic road accident in Maldon have been named by police.
Amanda Papworth, 31, from Althorne in the Dengie Hundred area, and her 14-month old baby daughter Millie were killed when the Volkswagen Passat they were travelling in was involved in a collision with a heavy goods vehicle.
An Essex Police spokesman said the accident happened in Fambridge Road, Maldon, just before 12.40pm on Tuesday.
Ms Papworth was certified dead at the scene and her child, a back seat passenger, was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. The lorry driver, from Boreham, was shocked but unhurt.
The road was closed by police between the junctions of Linebrook Way and Blind Lane for several hours, due in part to difficulties in recovering the lorry.
Police have appealed for witnesses to the accident to call Chelmsford traffic police on 01245 452918
