On the Sunday after Christmas, a medium sized group of the Witham & District C.C. met at Witham for the usual trip over the Burnham Marshes.

The route went through Ulting, Woodham Walter and Mortimer, Purleigh, Latchingdon, Mayland to Steeple where with the cold wind and drizzle, the members turned back for home.

They then rode back via Latchingdon, Mundon to Maldon where the run split up, between 35 and 50 miles being covered in the day at a steady pace.

On the first Sunday of the new year the club run went from Witham to Rivenhall, Silver End, Stisted, Gosfield, Beazley End, Wetherfield, Finchingfield, Great Bardfield, Great Saling and to the Craft Centre at Blake End.

This was at a good pace as only a few went out due to the heavy on and off showers, with the roads also flooded.

The route back was through Felsted, Great Leighs and Boreham where the run split up. Around 55 miles were covered in the morning.

Next Sunday's club run will be to East Mersea, and prospective new members are invited to meet in Witham outside the precinct opposite Maldon Road at 9.30am, and for general information on the club telephone Kevin on 01245 467283.
