Police have warned two child car safety seats stolen in Harlow are faulty and could be dangerous.
An Essex Police spokesman said the seats were taken in a burglary at Harlow Council's Edinburgh Way depot, which houses its road safety unit.
The thieves caused £1,000-worth of damage breaking in, and escaped with the seats, a video recorder and other goods together worth £800.
The two dangerous seats had been recovered from cars involved crashes and were used for demonstration purposes. Both were Britax models: one was a Freeway, the other a Club Class Extra.
Bothbear the inscription "Harlow Road Safety" in marker pen and had the Harlow postcode, which begins CM, written on them with an ultra-violet marker.
Anyone with information has been asked to contact police at Harlow on 01279 641212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 .
