Staff at the RSPCA rescue centre in Wethersfield are appealing for people to offer caring homes to abandoned pets after one of their busiest Christmases ever.
The centre has been so full that some dogs have had to be kept in kennels at Braintree Police Station.
"We have had a lot of puppies brought in. People are getting dogs and are not being able to cope with them," said deputy manager, Sam White.
Homes are being sought for dogs which include three lurchers and a bull terrier. There are also lots of young cats.
Call 01371 851501 or visit the centre on Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 3pm.
