Ipswich Town chairman David Sheepshanks has given his biggest hint yet that he will stand for the post of FA chairman.

The position was vacated by Keith Wiseman on Monday following the controversial loan of £3.2 million to the FA of Wales. However, a new chairman will not be selected until June's annual general meeting.

Sheepshanks, who yesterday unveiled the signing of £200,000 Dutchman Fabian Wilnis, said: "I'm certainly interested in standing as things are.

"But at the moment there's a five month delay. I'm not going to declare my hand at this juncture."

He added he would make a final decision "in the weeks ahead".

As well as introducing Wilnis, Sheepshanks announced that teenage hopeful Richard Logan has signed a new three-year contract.

The 17-year-old, along with Titus Bramble, is rated as Town's top under-18 player. He made his first team debut last month against Wolves.

Town have been given 3,000 tickets for their FA Cup fourth round tie away to Everton on January 23.
