A report on traffic problems in Wickford's congested Wick Lane is to be prepared for councillors.
Members of the town's area committee decided to ask for more information on the situation following a petition organised by residents.
They complained that lorries and vans from a nearby industrial estate cause congestion and damage to their own cars.
Councillors requested the report after granting planning permission for a new warehouse to be built on land at the estate off Fulmar Way.
But Councillor Allan Hooker said: "Right now we have a number of problems with traffic movements in Wick Lane. Residents won't be happy with any more traffic in the industrial area.
"The more we put on the site the more the situation is aggravated."
The report will be discussed at the next meeting of the committee in February.
