Generous Basildon boy Scott Robinson of top band Five has splashed out £250,000 on a luxury home for his parents.

The 19-year-old used his first proper royalty cheque to buy a brand new house in Basildon.

Scott had always vowed to give his mum and dad the home they dreamt of when he started to make some serious money.

A spokeswoman for Five's record label, RCA, said: "Scott has had some money come through in dribs and drabs but he has just got his first proper royalty cheque. They usually take about a year.

"He always said he'd buy his parents a house if he did begin to make money and he has kept his promise.

"It's quite a large property and lovely and new. Everyone's chuffed to bits."

She added that Scott had always been very close to his parents and still lived nearby.

She said: "One of the first things he did when he had a bit of money come through was buy a people carrier for his dad, who is a cabbie, so he could carry more people and earn more money."

Scott has been part of Five since 1997 and seen four singles smash into the top ten, including Slam Dunk (Da Funk).

He is a graduate of the famous Sylvia Young Stage School, also attended by Basildon TV babe Denise van Outen, and went to Chalvedon School in Pitsea.

Peculiarly he claims to dislike most food, but says he's a dab hand at making flapjacks to his own top-secret recipe.

He also enjoys basketball and roller-blading and is described by his record company as have such a warm personality that he could "charm the knickers off a nun"!

Rumours earlier this week that Five are splitting have been strenuously denied by RCA.

Scott, Richard, Abs, J and Sean have simply been working separately to promote and record their new album in England and Ireland.
