A new estate including homes and shops looks set to spring up on land in Pitsea.

Plans have been put to Basildon Council for permission to build 38 flats, 14 shops and six detached lock-ups on old Commission for New Towns land.

Lausanne Contractors in Colchester has applied for planning permission to build on the site in Station Lane, Pitsea.

The company has been looking to move onto the site for quite some time.

Car parking spaces and access to the estate have also been included in the plans.

The site already houses a cafe and a shop, Tudor Cottage, which would need to be knocked down if the development goes ahead.
