Sunday saw Braintree Athletic Club host the third Eastern Young League Division Two match.
A fixture clash saw a number of athletes travelling to another venue, nevertheless those at Braintree enjoyed a hot afternoon's athletics.
For the Under 13 Boys there were wins for Ben Cunningham, 200m 29.1s pb, long jump 4.56m & 'B' shot 8.18m pb. Bobby Ansell "A" shot 9.14m both pbs and Luke Hills 'B' 200m 33.4s.
Mitchell Jarvis competed in this league for the first time and ran the fastest time in 100m 15.0s cleared 3.58m in long jump and ran a strong leg in the wining 4x100 relay team.
Andy Hughes also a first timer ran 200m 33.7s and long jumped 3.53m.
In the Under 13 Girls there were wins for Lois Cartwright in the 70m Hurdles and high jump, Abbi Oliver in 70m hurdles and 200m, Vicky Legg in the 100m, 200m and long jump, Ellie Hall in the shot and Kate Smith in the 1500m with a pb of 5.54.5s
In the Under 15 Boys Luke Bearman won his 80m hurdles 14.1s high jump 1.40m and 'B' long jump 4.45m.
Tom Webb won the 'A' Javelin 32.34m pb, 'A' long jump 4.75m 1500m 5.14.2. Daniel Cole and James Newly competed for the first time, Daniel won his 400m 59.0 pb, was second in the 100m 13.2s and the 4x100 relay, James won 'B' 200m 34.3 and 'B' javelin 16.34m.
Luke Hughes ran well against strong oppositions in his sprint races to finish second in all three, 100m 13.5s, 200m 27.9s and 4x100 relays.
In the Under 15 Girls Mel Eveleigh had a good day with first place and bp of 4.44m in the long jump and 14.1pb in the 100m.
There were first places for Amanda Potter in the 75m hurdles, 200m and high jump, Jenny Hunt in the 800m, Rachel Beard in the 1500m, Hollie Redman in the discus, shot and long jump and Hannah Verghese in the discus and shot.
The Under 17 men's team was bolstered by two U15's moving up to cover absences. Tim Ashford was outsprinted by his 16 year old Luton opponents but achieved two respectable times in 100m 11.7s and 200m 23.6s pb.
Jake Jenkins won all his throws shot 9.29m, discus 34.28 and 'B' javelin 37,98m. Jonathan Harvy won his 'A' javelin 44.24 and ran 'B' 100m 12.6 pb.
The four lads then ran Luton close in the 4x100 relay for 49.5s.
The Under 17 Girls had wins from Kristi Andrews in the 80m hurdles, 100m and long jumps, Naomi Verghese in the shot and javelin, April Dolphin in the 300m. discus and long jump 5.08 pb.
Overall, Braintree were just beaten into second place by a strong Luton team.
