At the Essex County Championship Marathon in Basildon on Sunday, Tiptree Road Runners' Alan Fisher ran through midday heat which hit the 80s to win the race with a fantastic time of 2.44.22 on a testing course.
The two-lap course took runners over the steepest road climb on Langdon Hills twice and proved a massive test.
Undaunted, Fisher won the race to be awarded the Essex County Championship Gold Medal.
Alan also led Tiptree to finish second placed Essex County Team with Chris Applegate running close to his personal best, quite an achievement in the conditions, and Martyn Byford did well to complete the team.
