WITHAM TOWN........................0

CHESHUNT....................................2

(AXA FA Cup Replay)

After a first half with hardly a shot on goal at either end, all the action came in the last 15 minutes of this evenly matched game at Spa Road on Tuesday evening that eventually saw Town go out of the cup.

Aaron Garton scored the first in the 74th minute with a low shot from an acute angle that deceived Steve Chapman in the Witham goal.

But for the remainder of the game Witham were on top with both Rudi Hedman and John Elms going close, and they did have the ball in the net when Gerry Hawes looked as though he had scored following a goalmouth scramble but it was disallowed.

The visitors' second goal came with almost the last kick of the game as Witham with their patched up team bowed out of the competition for another season.

Witham Town: Chapman, Hogg, Luscombe, Farmer, Flynn (Elms 60 minutes), Allen (Gotobe 68 minutes), Dean (Cowley 83 minutes), Warren, Hawes, Hedman, Martin.
