Drugs with a street value of £500,000 have been seized in a major Colchester police operation.
About 500 plants, thought to be cannabis, plus substances believed to be ecstasy and amphetamine sulphate, were among the haul recovered in a major covert crackdown called Operation Langley.
Large numbers of officers swooped on a semi-detached house in Horkesley Road, Boxted.
They searched the property and outbuildings on the site.
A flat in Rogation Close, Stanway, was also searched.
Large quantities of substances, believed to be drugs, were seized and have been sent off to be analysed. It is believed to be one of the biggest hauls of its kind in Colchester.
Five people were arrested.
Meanwhile officers have been continuing to search the Boxted site.
