A man who received his wife's kidneyin a transplant operation has been released from hospital following fears his body was rejecting the organ.
Mike and June Seymour of Villa Road, Stanway, underwent the surgery at the beginning of the year.
However Mr Seymour was taken back into Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge after tests showed early signs of his body rejecting the kidney.
A course of anti-rejection treatment proved successful and Mr Seymour was released from hospital on Tuesday. The couple both went for a check up at Addenbrookes yesterday.
Mrs Seymour was signed off and is now recuperating before returning to work, while her husband will continue to have regular checks to make sure his body is accepting the donated organ.
She said: "Mike is getting there. He is a lot better than he was, but he is still a bit weak."
