A charity is calling on football fans to help them raise money for a building.

A piece of Wembley turf is to be auctioned off in aid of the Clacton and District Occupational Workshop Society to help with the building of a new workshop for the disabled in Old Road.

The one-foot sq piece was donated to the group as part of the redevelopment of Wembley Stadium.

The owners are giving pieces of turf, along with a certificate of authenticity, to charities and small football clubs nominated to receive it.

The charity has had to raise £190,000 to complete the new building after the lease ran out on the original building in Holland Road after 30 years.

The first phase of the construction has been completed in the past month.

Anyone wanting to place a bid should call Fred Grimsey on 01255 424690 (day) or 01255 427195 (evening) by September 7.
