A baby who was born 13 weeks premature is fighting back against all the odds.

Jordan Tower was born at Colchester General Hospital weighing just 1100g and measuring only 35cm from head to toe.

Jordan was delivered by emergency Caesarean after mum Sharon Tower, 25, of Chase Court, Greenstead, Colchester, was rushed into hospital when she was just six months into her pregnancy.

Jordan's lungs were so immature he was dependent on a ventilator for the first 74 days of his life.

Two days after he was born, Jordan was transferred by ambulance at Princess Alexandra Hospital, in Harlow.

But Jordan turned out to be a little fighter and after a further stay at Colchester General Hospital his proud parents were "chuffed" to finally bring him home.

At three months old, the healthy baby still tips the scales at a tiny 5lb 13oz.

Jordan does still suffer from chronic lung disease, an after affect of being on a ventilator, said Mrs Tower. But otherwise he is perfectly healthy.

At three months old, he tips the scales at a still tiny 5 lb 13oz and today (Wednesday), the day after he was due to arrive, Sharon and husband Nick say they owe both hospitals a huge debt of gratitude.
