An upper-deck on the lower part of the White Horse car park could solve Maldon's parking problems.
It is just one of the responses from public consultation on a retail strategy for Maldon district.
A report to the environment and economic development select committee this week said the main thrust of the responses is to:
Support the existing strategy of resisting out of town centre development.
Allow more flexibility for commercial opportunity in the town/district centre.
Identify sites for commercial uses within the town/district centre.
Enhance town centre parking.

In response to car parking, town centre manager, Marion Wells said: "Car parking alternatives would be to provide long term car parking further away from the High Street to free up the main car parks with easy access to the shops.
"The local plan should identify such long-term parking space eg Longfields and an upper deck on the lower part of White Horse car park. Park and ride space should also be planned."
Another individual Kevin Ascott added: "One solution would be to have shops on the ground and low-rise parking above on the White Horse Lane car park."
