High achievers from the Plume School, Maldon, and St Peter's School, Burnham, are being given a chance to fly, thanks to the Popular Flying Association.
Five 11 to 16-year-olds from each school have been selected by their head teachers to take part in flights from Southend Airport this weekend. They will be taken up by pilot Pete Annison who helps run the Young Eagles programme.
Mr Annison, a senior technician at Dovercourt Ford, Maldon, which is sponsoring the event, said: "I am delighted to be able to use my plane and free time to help local school pupils to find out what it is like to fly in a small plane."
