Rush hour delays are set to continue at the Rettendon Turnpike as work is done in preparation for the widening of the A130.
The slip roads to the A130 are being upgraded to cater for an increased traffic load.
The A130 dual carriageway is expected to open in November next year after the works were disrupted by eco-protesters.
A spokesman for Essex County Council said there had been some delays caused by the roadworks.
He said: "It is inevitable that there will be delays when 35,000 vehicles a day are travelling on a single carriageway with roadworks. The roadworks should be completed within three months."
