A five-year-old boy is critically ill in hospital after he and his sister were injured in an accident at Ridgewell, near Halstead.
Police say the boy and his eight-year-old sister were near the King's Head pub in the village at about 3.40pm on Wednesday when they were involved in a collision with a car driven by a 68-year-old Braintree woman. The car was travelling towards Halstead.
Both children were taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital at Cambridge.
