A pedestrian was injured in a road accident after a car left the scene of a robbery.
The car coming away from Dillons Store, in Dorset Avenue, Great Baddow, at about 10.30pm on Monday night and was in collision with the man.
Seconds earlier, cigarettes were stolen from behind the counter of the store.
The pedestrian, from Great Baddow, was taken to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford with a suspected broken leg. He was later discharged.
Ten minutes later, four people were arrested in a car in Springfield Park Avenue.
Two men, aged 34 and 17, and two women, aged 30 and 17, all from Chelmsford, were being interviewed by police today.
Police today said the pedestrian's injuries were not life threatening.
