Heybridge, Braintree and Chelmsford all face tough FA Cup replays tonight (Tuesday) as they bid for a place in the third qualifying round of the prestigious competition.

Swifts face a tricky trip to Jewson League favourites AFC Sudbury, after battling out a hard fought 1-1 draw against them at Scraley Road on Saturday.

Swifts will be looking for a better performance on the night with Andy Tomlinson and Joel Rogers likely to start, Chris Payne recovering from injury to take his place in the squad.

Striker Robbie Reinelt is Braintree's big injury doubt ahead of their big FA Cup second qualifying round replay against Canvey at Cressing Road tonight.

He has an ankle injury and is almost certainly out - Leon Gutzmore, who scored a last minute equaliser for the Iron on Saturday, should replace him in the starting line-up.

Manager Ben Embery said he was expecting another tough ride tonight against one of the favourites to claim the Ryman League.

He said: "No disprespect to Canvey but I think they thought we were going to be easy on Saturday and we surprised them. I expect them to be wiser tonight and, if anything, tougher.

"I was proud of the lads on Saturday and the way they played - everyone played really well."

Chelmsford City manager Gary Bellamy has a couple of injury problems ahead of his side's replay at Grays Athletic.

Defenders Ian Cousins and Ben Lewis both limped out of Saturday's 1-1 draw and must be rated as doubtful.

However, there is better news regarding Kevin Dobinson who would be the ideal replacement for Lewis, assuming he fully recovers from a bout of 'flu.

Neither Tiptree or Halstead Town have major injury problems ahead of tonight's local derby in the Jewson League premier division.

Halstead boss Paul Grimsey expects to name an unchanged squad from the one that drew with Fakenham on Saturday with reserves Linton Ebason and Mark Harris added.

Tiptree player-manager Steve Parnell is a doubtful starter as he is struggling with a hamstring injury.

There is also a worry over Dave Barefield (toe), but striker Rob Thorne has been drafted in from the under-18s to provide cover.

Parnell said: "I know a lot about Halstead as an ex-manager and player, and there is a bit of added spice as five or six of my players used to be there as well so I expect it to be an interesting battle.

"Halstead are on a high at the moment, but hopefully we can go there and turn them over."

Harwich and Parkeston manager Andy Clark continues to add to his ever-growing squad with goalkeeper Lloyd Pentney signing from Clacton Town.

He is added to the squad for tonight's trip to Felixstowe alongside father and son new signings Tom and Tommy English, who made their debuts in Saturday's win over Newmarket.

Clark has also acquired the services of prolific goalscorer John Kemp, and will name the same squad as Saturday with the exception of Tony English, who is unavailable for midweek fixtures.

He said: "Felixstowe are just above us in the league so I expect it to be a difficult game.

"My squad is improving all the time in terms of personnel and I think things are turning around for us."

Brightlingsea face a tough test in the Essex Senior Cup first round when they entertain Saffron Walden.

Manager Ken Ballard will be hoping the Oystermen can capitalise on their fine 2-1 win over Downham in the Jewson League first division at the weekend.

Jimmy Chatters was taken to hospital during the game but has recovered from a knock and is fit again. Ian Kenny will also be available for Brightlingsea against the Essex Senior Leaguers.
