The Bukta Southend District League programme was decimated by snow, waterlogged pitches and now the foot and mouth outbreak, but two key games did take place.

The top two met in Division One and leaders Stanford Wanderers extended the gap at the top to three points when they beat nearest rivals Belvedere 4-2 away.

Richardson got two goals for Stamford and this feat was matched by Brown for the losers.

Stanford's season is looking good. They are in the Essex Junior Trophy semi-finals, are still battling in the Ramuz and Southend Charity Cups, as well as looking favourites for the First Division title.

AFC Horndon are through to the semi-finals of the French Cup. They beat Thundersley Rovers 6-3 in round two thanks to four goals from Elbourne and a twin strike from Douglas. Roberts (2) and Slater replied.

Like Rochford Town, Horndon now have to wait to find out who their opponents will be in the semi-finals.
