SENIOR DIVISION ONE

The leagues top two sides met on Saturday when leaders Bishop's Stortford Swifts entertained Rayleigh Town .

Swifts had played three more games than their visitors and were six points clear at the top before the match, but Rayleigh closed the gap with a narrow 1-0 win, Tiranni scoring the goal.

Frenford Senior welcomed Nortel and beat them 2-1 win with goals from Young and Beard. Taylor scored the Nortel goal.

The two police forces met when Essex Police travelled to Metpol Chigwell and returned beaten 2-1, Wright and Long scoring the home goals while Keaney was the Essex Police scorer.

Takeley and visitors Sandon Royals played out a 1-1 draw, Barker's strike for Takeley being matched by Sandon's Vernon .

SENIOR DIVISION TWO

Leaders Canning Town , with 27 points from 10 games, welcomed third-in-the-table Manford Way who inflicted Canning Town's second league defeat of the season by winning 2-1.

Hegarty was spot on for the visitors as he netted both his sides goals from the penalty spot. Graham netted the Canning Town goal.

Epping celebrated winning their first league game of the season, Benfleet being on the receiving end of a 2-1 defeat.

Gray's strike was added to by an own goal to make up Epping's two goals, while Hollingsworth netted the Benfleet goal.

Second-in-the-table Wanstead Town entertained Writtle and the home side kept the pressure on the leaders by winning 2-1 with goals from Driscoll and McInorty. Key scored Writtle's goal.

With White Notley's ground being next to a farm their game was transferred to Barnston AFC , and Notley returned home with a fine 4-0 win, Moore, Baker (2) and Gray the goalscorers.

SENIOR DIVISION THREE

Laindon Athletic , in the unenviable position of bottom of the table, welcomed the club just two places above them,Great Baddow , and it was lucky game 13 for the home side as they won 3-2, Sach netting all three Laindon goals, while Bushnell scored both the Baddow goals.

Old Chelmsfordians convincingly beat visitors Ramsden 4-0,Francis (2), and Parry strikes being added to by an own goal.

Springfield hosted Broomfield who won 4-2, Smith, Harris and Porter (2) on target for the Brooms' while both the Springfield goals were put away by May.

RESERVE DIVISION ONE

Leaders Takeley travelled to third placed Kelvedon Hatch and beat their hosts 2-0, Williams and Thake the scorers.

Nortel drew 1-1 with visitors Harold Wood Athletic, Golding scoring for Nortel and Blunden for the Wood.

Shell Club secured their first league win of the season, with a crushing 5-1 victory over visitors Frenford Senior. Trew (2), Atkins, Munro and Mallon were on target for Shell Club, while Frenford's consolation goal was scored by Blunden.

RESERVE DIVISION TWO

Broomfield beat visitors White Notley 3-2, Crossman, and Leghorn goals being added to by an own goal to make up the Broomfield tally, while Hume netted both the Notley goals.

Manford Way drew 2-2 with Hatfield Peverel , Carr and Lavin scoring the Manford Way goals while O'Shea and Booker were on target for Hatfield Peverel.
