Vandals caused around £2,000 of damage after going on a wrecking spree at Basildon railway station yesterday.
Police were called by a taxi driver at around 1.20am who noticed glass on the street outside the station.
A BT telephone booth outside had its glass panels kicked in and British Transport Police entered the station to find a trail of destruction.
A spokesman for rail company c2c said: "It appears yobs have smashed around six windows in the front of the station, a glass panel by the ticket office, a pane of glass in the photo booth, some plastic panels on advertising boards and a couple of telephone booths.
"Fortunately, we have closed circuit television cameras and we will be handing them over for the police to study."
