A man charged with offences under the terrorism act has been remanded in custody until his next hearing.
Thomas Mellon, of Londonderry, Northern Ireland, will reappear at Southend Magistrates' Court on Monday, April 9.
He is charged under section seven of the Terrorism Act concerning the instigation or preparation of terrorism.
He is also accused of possessing a Northern Ireland driving licence in the name of Christopher Dowd, a Nene University identity card and video card in the name of David Bruce and a United Kingdom passport in the name of Paul Devlin at a hotel in Ipswich between Sunday, February 18, to Tuesday, February 27,
He denies both charges.
A further two charges, of possession of a false instrument relating to the passport and possession of a licence with intent to deceive, were withdrawn.
