Essex NFU chairman John Jolly, owner of Mangapps Railway Museum, said he risked losing up to £100,000 through cancelled Thomas the Tank Engine weekends if he cannot reopen the museum by the end of May.
The museum attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year and is now the Jolly family's main source of income, but has been pu off-limits by the ongoing foot and mouth crisis.
"From now until June is our busiest time of year. We may have to make a choice whether to get rid of the farm or the museum, it is as serious as that," said Mr Jolly.
