A bid for £45,000 from English Heritage for a regeneration project in Southminster is to be sought.
Members of Maldon District Council's environment and economic development select committee last week agreed that an application be supported and they approved an overall Maldon regeneration strategy.
The Dengie scheme is concentrated on neighbourhood businesses, high streets, and corner shops and where area-based assistance with building repairs and enhancement will support local employment.
The three-year £90,000 project would be made up of cash from English Heritage, match funding by the district council and other potential partners.
