A Billericay father-of-two who was gunned down in a contract-style killing was lured to his death by a mystery phone call.

Kenneth Beagle, of Billericay, was shot repeatedly in the head after planning to meet someone at Oldchurch Hospital in Romford.

But detectives hunting his killers have been unable to establish a motive for the gangland-style execution despite a team of more than 30 officers working extensively on the case.

An inquest into Mr Beagle's death - he was also known as Kenneth Kenny - heard that the 55-year-old died from multiple gunshot wounds and that nobody had been arrested in connection with his death five months ago.

Mr Beagle had a string of criminal convictions, including drug dealing and kidnapping.

Walthamstow Coroner's Court heard how Beagle had been lured to the hospital car park after a phone call to his home in Billericay.

As staff nurse Kerri-Anne Beal drove out of the hospital car park she heard a bang. She said: "I've never heard a gun, except on television, but my gut feeling was it a gunshot. It was quite loud, quite piercing."

Det Insp Brian Sweeting, of the Serious Crime Group, said: "He was clearly called to this meeting and not for any other purpose than for these people to kill him."
