Two men, one of whom may have had a gun, are being sought by police after a bizarre incident in a Brentwood car park.

A man returning to his car in the William Hunter Way car park at 3.10pm on Monday was approached by the pair, and asked for his car keys.

When he refused, one of the men sat in the car and asked for a lift, while the other stood quietly nearby.

The motorist dialled 999 on a mobile phone and one of the men called him a name before they walked into Western Avenue. The first man had a pistol, believed to be a toy or imitation. But at no time was the driver threatened.

PC Jon Cannings said: "It was all very calm. We have had no other incidents of a similar nature reported to us." The victim believed he may have seen the men in the area half an hour before the incident, when he parked his car.
