The body of an elderly man has been found in Walton backwaters.
The discovery was made by a walker on Friday afternoon who spotted it floating in the water and alerted police and coastguards.
Police said the body was thought to have been in the water for several days and Thames Coastguard assisted them in removing it.
A spokesman for Essex Police said there was no suggestion of foul play and the man's identity would be established later this week.
But they said they had informed the wife of a missing pensioner from Clacton about finding a body.
Cyril Woodhouse, 70, was last seen on Clacton seafront on March 27.
He was a resident at Edensor Nursing and Care Home in Orwell Road, Clacton, and had not taken his medication for diabetes and mental health problems with him.
