Police have confirmed that a man who disappeared from his Wickford home in February has been found dead in London.

The body of Martin Wilson was found on the track at Mile End Tube station after being hit by a train on March 26.

The injuries he sustained were so serious that it took police longer than usual to formally identify the body.

Mr Wilson, 49, of Woodberry Road, vanished on Monday, February 26.

At the time, his wife labelled his actions as 'out of character'.

A police spokesman told how Mr Wilson, who suffered from arthritis, asthma and a glandular complaint, had been depressed.

Police said Mr Wilson's death is not being treated as suspicious.
