Braintree Town can take a giant leap towards promotion when they host Thame United in the Ryman League first division tonight (Wednesday, kick-off 7.45pm).

The Oxfordshire side are one place above the Iron in third and are level on points.

But a win tonight for Ben Embery's side can see them move up to second with just five games to play.

Embery said: "It's a big game for us. Luckily, we have Simon Spencer and Kirk Game fit again and they will be available for selection."

Injuries are hampering Wivenhoe's promotion bid as they embark on a run of four home games in six days with the visit of Horsham tonight (Wednesday).

Player-manager Julian Hazel, Robbie May and Lee Abrahart are all definite non-starters with Danny Smith also struggling.

That means a possible call-up for former Dragons man Ian Kershaw from Brightlingsea, who is still registered with the club.

Wivenhoe's joint-manager Steve Pitt said: "We don't look any further than winning games at the moment - it's a question of grinding out results.

Harwich visit Needham Market in the Harwich Charity Cup (kick-off 7.45pm).

The Amos Cup final between Eight Ash Green and Walton Town Reserves, postponed three times since its traditional Boxing Day date, is also due to take place at Stanway Rovers' ground (kick-off 7.30pm).
