Tendring twinners are putting the final touches to a visit to the German counterparts next month - but are lacking one vital ingredient.

They are desperately searching for a youth football team keen for a bit of European competition.

The side, which needs players to be aged between 13 to 18, will get the chance to travel to Biberach to battle it out for the honours.

Bert Foster, chairman of Tendring Town Twinning, said that it was a great opportunity.

"We had a team lined up but unfortunately they have had to drop out, which is a great disappointment for them and us," he said.

"However, it gives another club the chance to sample a bit of European competition and the chance to travel abroad to play their game."

Mr Foster said that youngsters had already been selected in Germany to take up the challenge and it would be a shame to let them down.

He is ideally looking for an 11-a-side team but said that a five-a-side match could also be arranged if that was possible.

Any youth soccer side interested in the event, which runs from June 13 to 17, or anyone else who would like to go should contact Mr Foster on 01255 433535 or Bob Smith on 01255 812649.
