A murder inquiry has been launched following the discovery of a fatally-wounded man at a flat in Dovercourt.

Police were called to the ground floor flat in Cliff Road, Dovercourt, at 6.15pm last night (Tuesday). There they found the 30-year-old with what they described as serious injuries.

A spokeswoman said a special constable and another police officer attempted to resuscitate the man but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post mortem is due to be carried out this morning.
